What do I need to register as a teacher? 

To register with Education VIPs as a Teacher you need to hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or have successfully completed a Graduate Training Program (GTP). If you qualified as a teacher outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland different rules apply; for more information please contact us. To work in maintained schools, pupil referral units (PRU) and non-maintained special schools. You will need to hold a DCSF number and be registered with the GTC. You will also need to hold a current Enhanced CRB Disclosure.

What kind of work can I do?

Day to Day Supply:

Covering a class or classes due to the usual teacher being absent. These positions usually come up at short notice and will be between one day and one week.

Long Term Supply:

Covering for an unfilled teaching position within the school, long term sickness or maternity leave cover. The length of time can vary from one term to one year. A higher daily rate is paid for long term posts however it is expected that the teacher will participate in all activities related to the post and that the extra payment covers these occasions e.g. parent/teacher interviews and staff meetings. We will confirm any additional negotiations between yourself and the school by letter.

Permanent Placement:

In this type of position the teacher is paid directly by the school, the teacher becomes a full and permanent member of the school staff with an employment contract and all the associated benefits. The school determines the salary according to the qualifications and experience of the teacher.
